  • Buttler started playing cricket at an early age and played age-group cricket for many local clubs and school teams.
  • He once had a photo with Ian Botham during the 1999 World Cup.

  • He also played other sports and became the Somerset Under-13 tennis champion in 2000, when he was 9 years old.
  • When he was young, he used to cry whenever he got out. He changed that habit over time.
  • Despite playing cricket regularly while studying in school, he never neglected his studies and achieved top GCSE and A-level grades.
  • His coach Dennis Breakwell once said that Buttler’s average was around 95 as King’s captain, and he was an even better cricketer than Ian Botham at that age.
  • In 2006, he moved to Glastonbury county team from Somerset so that he could play more matches as a batsman.
