Some Lesser Known Facts About Jasmeen Manzoor

• Jasmeen Manzoor grew up in Karachi, Pakistan.

• Jasmeen began her career as an anchor on Pakistan Television in 1999. She later worked as a producer and talk show host on various private TV channels.

• In March 2010, Manzoor joined SAMAA TV and began hosting its popular current affairs show ‘Tonight with Jasmeen.’

  

• Apart from anchoring, Jasmeen has produced several insightful documentaries on diverse issues and has earned four awards in recognition of her excellence.

• She has also interviewed many prominent politicians, including Arif Alvi, the 13th President of Pakistan, and Benazir Bhutto, the 11th Prime Minister of Pakistan.

  

• In July 2013, Jasmeen claimed she was receiving life threats after hosting several television programs that criticised a political party based in Karachi. Although she did not name the group, many believed she was referring to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).

• Due to continuous threats from unknown individuals, Jasmeen left Karachi for her safety. Despite the seriousness of the threats, she claimed that her organisation did not provide her with adequate support.

• Later, while attending a national media briefing with over 90 journalists, Jasmeen spoke about the threats and got emotional. In response, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who was present at the event, promised to review the law and order situation in Karachi.

• In 2022, Jasmeen Manzoor joined BOL Network as a senior news anchor.

  

• On 16 July 2025, Jasmeen accused her ex-husband of domestic violence. She shared photos on X showing bruises and swelling around her eye.

  

• On X, Jasmeen shared that the assault happened at her home during the days she was grieving her mother’s death. She also said she had 50 more pictures as evidence, but had hesitated to share them at first.

• In her post on X, Jasmeen wrote,
  

  I kept thinking for so long whether I should share this with the public or not, but I want to show the courage to share this so we can all unite against this kind of behaviour and for the government authorities to open their eyes. This can happen to anyone. No one is safe even in the safety of your house. The most dangerous people are the ones you trust blindly.”

• Jasmeen described her ex-husband as a ‘violent man’ and a ‘coward,’ and said he had revealed his true nature after their marriage. She also claimed that he had been at Jinnah Hospital for six months, but did not specify why.

• Jasmeen also alleged that her ex-husband had once pointed a gun at a serving air force officer and attempted to kidnap him.

  

• Jasmeen, an avid reader, once expressed her admiration for renowned author Paulo Coelho in a social media post. She called him an inspiration in her life and one of the best writers she has read, while mentioning his book, ‘The Spy.’

  

• She loves travelling and often shares her travel experiences on social media.
