• Himesh Reshammiya grew up in Mumbai.

  

• He started his training in music under his father, a music director.

• When he was 13, his elder brother who was 22 years old, passed away. After his brother’s demise, he started writing songs.

• When he was 16, he started working as a TV serial producer for Ahmedabad Doordarshan and Zee TV.

• Some of the TV serials produced by him are Andaz, Ahha, Aman, Aashiqui, Amar Prem, and Jaan. He also composed the title track of various TV serials.

• The Indian actor Salman Khan had once promised him that he would help Himesh in launching his career. He kept his promise and Himesh composed two Hindi songs for Salman Khan’s film ‘Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya.’ Since then, Himesh considers Salman as his mentor in Bollywood.

  

• He then composed music for various songs in Salman Khan’s Hindi films like ‘Hello Brother’ (1999), ‘Tere Naam’ (2003), ‘Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya?’ (2005), ‘Bodyguard’ (2011), and ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ (2015).

• In 2003, he sang backup vocals for the Hindi film ‘Zameen.’

  

• His music in the 2003 film ‘Tere Naam’ is considered one of the bestselling Bollywood albums.

• He has the record of composing 36 hits in a single year.

• After the release of his Hindi music album Aap Kaa Surroor (2006), his style of wearing a cap, holding a mike, and dressing style became quite popular. Later, he shared that his friend Prashant Chadha’s sister Roopa had styled him.

  

• He was also trolled by some people for his style of nasal singing. However, most of the audiences loved his style and his songs at that time became a hit.

  

• As a music director, he has worked in many popular Hindi films including ‘Taarzan: The Wonder Car’ (2004), ‘Aashiq Banaya Aapne’ (2005), ‘Namastey London’ (2007), ‘OMG – Oh My God!’ (2012), and ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ (2016).

• Himesh has appeared as a judge in various Hindi singing reality TV shows like Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge (2005), Music Ka Maha Muqqabla (2009), Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L’il Champs (2019), Superstar Singer 2 (2019), and Indian Idol 12 (2020).

  

• During an episode of the TV show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge (2005), while giving his judgement to one of the contestants of the show Vineet Singh, Himesh aggressively said “Mujhe Tere Ghar Me Roti Chahiye, Struggling Nahi Chahiye and Jai Mata Di Let’s Rock” which became very popular at that time.
  

• He has sung many popular Hindi songs such as “Jhalak Dikhlaja” from ‘Aksar’ (2006), “Tum Saanson Mein” from ‘Humko Deewana Kar Gaye’ (2006), “Aashiqui Meri” from ’36 China Town’ (2006), and “Hookah Bar” from ‘Khiladi 786’ (2012).

• There were rumours that whenever his song “Jhalak Dikhlaja” was played, it used to attract ghosts. After this, the song was banned in some places. However, the rumours turned out to be fake.

• In 2006, he became the first Indian singer to perform at the Wembley Stadium in London.

• Himesh has acted in various Hindi films like ‘Karzzzz’ (2008), ‘Kajraare’ (2010), ‘Khiladi 786’ (2012), and ‘Happy Hardy and Heer’ (2020). However, his films failed to do well at the box office.

• In 2011, he composed a mujra song for the theatre play ‘Kennedy Bridge.’

• In the same year, he shared that he would release his English music album ‘At Da Edge.’

• He has co-produced a few Hindi films like ‘Khiladi 786’ (2012), ‘The Xposé’ (2014), ‘Teraa Surroor’ (2016), and ‘Happy Hardy and Heer’ (2020).

• He has penned down the lyrics of various Hindi songs such as “Hookah Bar” from Khiladi 786 (2012), “Ek Number” from Sanam Teri Kasam (2016), “Heer Tu Meri” from Happy, Hardy and Heer (2020), and “Naya Pyaar Naya Ehsaas” from Middle Class Love (2022).

• Himesh has also released various Hindi music albums such as ‘Aap Se Mausiiquii’ (2016), ‘Himesh Ke Dil Se’ (2021), ‘Surroor 2021’ (2021), ‘Woh Ek Mulaqaat’ (2022), and ‘Divine Melodies’ (2022).

  

• Himesh, along with his father, has started a music label HR Musik Limited. On 5 June 2021, he started another music label Himesh Reshammiya Melodies.

• Himesh often gives an opportunity to budding singers to sing in Hindi films. In 2019, he selected the Indian beggar-turned-singer Ranu Mondal as the playback singer for a song titled “Teri Meri Kahani” in the film Happy Hardy and Heer.

  

• He considers a hand band as his lucky charm.

  

• He regularly works out at a gym and has lost a lot of weight to look fit.

  

• He is a religious person and has a deep faith in God.

  

• He once shared that the reason he used to wear a cap initially was his hairfall. He then had a hair transplant.
