Some Lesser Known Facts About Hero Alom

• Hero Alom was born to a very poor family.

• When he was 10 years old, his father left him and his mother for some other woman.

• He was then adopted by another man in his village named Abdur Razzak.

• Alom then started selling chanachur in his village to meet the financial expenses. He even left his studies to support his family financially.

• After selling chanachur in the day, he used to watch TV at a nearby shop. The owner of the shop then offered him a job at the shop at night. To earn more money, he started selling CDs and cassettes there.

• He then bought the shop in instalments and started a cable network business ‘Sokal-Sondha Cable Network’ in his village. Initially, he used to earn only Taka 70-Taka 80 with his business.

• At the shop, he used to watch pictures of models on cassettes. Gradually, he developed an interest in modelling.

• In 2008, he appeared as a model in a Bangladeshi music video which he released on his cable network channel.

• Later, he uploaded hundreds of his videos on his network channel. Some of his Bangladeshi music videos are Chokh Jurano Moner Moto (2018), Chupi Chupi (2019), Varsityr Satri (2020), Ondhokar Kobore (2021), and DJ Kala (2021).

  

• He came into the limelight when someone uploaded one of his videos on YouTube. Some people mocked him for his looks, whereas, some people liked his videos.

• On his self-titled YouTube channel, he has around 1.7 million subscribers.

  

• Memers from various countries started making memes on him which became very popular.

  

• He uploaded his videos on TikTok with which he gained immense popularity.

• Alom has also acted in many Bangladeshi short films including ‘Tarzan The Hero Alam’ (2018), ‘Bhaiyer Bhalobasha’ (2019), ‘Barishailla Bou’ (2020), ‘Palta Jobab’ (2020), and ‘Mayer Proti Bhalobasha’ (2021).

• In 2018, his nomination to contest in the 11th national election in Bangladesh was rejected by the Jatiya Party. He then contested as an independent candidate. He got only 638 votes and lost to BNP candidate Mosharraf Hossain.

• In the same year, a Hindi play on his life was performed in Ahmedabad and Mumbai by the Indian theatre artist Mahesh Ruprao Ghodeswar.

• He has also acted in numerous Bangladeshi TV commercials.

• In 2019, he authored a book titled Drishti Bhongi Badlan, We Will Change the Society.

  

• He has acted in various Bangladeshi films like ‘Shahoshi Hero Alom’ (2020) and ‘Tokai’ (2023; also a film producer and singer).

  

• He has lent his voice to many Bangladeshi songs like Hridoy Theke Bolchi (2023), Tumi Chara Ami (2023), Ken Je Ami Valobaste Gelam (2023), and Matal (2024).

  

• In 2023, the Dhaka University Fine Arts Faculty in Bangladesh placed his sculpture in the university as an honour.

  

• He once shared that he would do a Hindi film only if the Indian actress Deepika Padukone was cast opposite him. He also said that the Indian actor Shah Rukh Khan was Alom’s biggest fan after which netizens made fun of him.

• While he was at a polling centre on 17 July 2023, he was assaulted by his opponents as he was clicking pictures with his fans. His opponents said that it was not the right place to shoot TikTok videos.

• He joined Bangladesh Muktijuddho Projonmo League as cultural secretary in 2023.

• Alom has started an NGO named ‘Hero Alom Foundation.’ His organization helps in providing free education for orphans and free ambulance, shelter, and other expenses for needy people.

  

• In an interview, he shared that he did not smoke or consume alcohol.
