  • She lived in Ankara, Turkey, from age six to eleven, where her father was deployed.
  • She returned to the United States with her family in 1966.
  • She started her career in journalism by working as a production assistant at WJZ-TV in Baltimore. Later, she met Oprah Winfrey, who was an anchor at the station then.
  • Thereafter, she trained as a reporter at WUSA-TV in Washington, D.C.
  • After working at WJZ, she started working as a general assignment reporter at WDAF-TV in Kansas City, Missouri.
  • In 1981, she joined WFSB in Hartford as a news anchor and worked until 1999.
