Girish Chandra Murmu is an IAS officer who became the first Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir in October 2019. Mr. Murmu resigned from the post of Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir in August 2020; exactly one year after it was created.

He has been an important part of Nirmala Sitharaman‘s team which handled the 2019 Union Finance Budget.
