• Eenam Gambhir is an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer of the 2005 batch. She has been appointed as a Counsellor in the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations in New York.

• During her tenure as Under Secretary at the Ministry of External Affairs in Delhi, she handled matters related to India’s neighbouring nations, with a particular focus on countries like Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iran.

• While working as a counsellor at the Permanent Mission of India to the UN, she represents India on a range of topics, including security council reform, counter-terrorism, cyber security issues, and security council regional matters.

• In 2007, during her probationary period in New Delhi, she also worked on UN economic and social issues.

• She also holds the position of Senior Adviser on Peace and Security matters in the Office of the President of the 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

• In September 2016, she garnered attention in the Indian media after she delivered a speech at the United Nations Assembly, criticizing Pakistan’s actions. Her speech was particularly focused on Pakistan’s alleged support for terrorism. She said,

• In December 2017, while taking a post-dinner walk in Rohini, Delhi, two men on a motorcycle, pretending to ask her for directions, snatched her phone. A complaint was registered against the two unidentified men at the Rohini North police station. ^[4]Outlook

• In 2023, she held the position of the Joint Secretary of G20 and served as the co-chairperson of the G20 Development Working Group. In this position, she played a significant role in overseeing G20-related affairs.
