Some Lesser Known Facts About Dushyant Singh

  • Dushyant Singh’s parents got separated a few weeks before his birth.
  • Dushyant Singh was raised singlehandedly by his mother, Vasundhara Raje Scindia, who has served as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan twice. She also held the Ministry of Small Scale Industries and Agro and Rural Industries in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government.
  • A few years after his birth, Dushyant’s maternal grandmother, Vijayaraje Scindia, filed a court case against Dushyant’s father, Maharaja Hemant Singh, on behalf of Dushyant to claim his share in Hemant’s property. In May 2007, a settlement agreement was made in court under which Dushyant Singh got ownership of the Dholpur Palace. Besides the Palace, he also got the ownership of a house in Shimla, a dozen vintage cars, and jewels from Dholpur’s treasury.
  • Dushyant grew up in a royal family in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.

(December 1998 – February 1999), Hotel Beau Rivage, Geneva, Switzerland (January 1997 – July 1997), J. Thomas and Co. Pvt. Ltd., Kolkata (August 1994 – August 1995), Sheraton Hotels, U.S.A., (June 1999 to March 2002).
  • From July 2002 to October 2002, Dushyant worked for Hospitality Valuation Services (HVS), Delhi, where he evaluated real estate.

  • In 2009, although there was a Congress wave in Rajasthan, Singh managed to retain his Lok Sabha seat. As a Member of Parliament, he worked towards getting improved roads and better infrastructure in his area.

  • In 2014, Dushyant Singh won the Lok Sabha elections from the Jhalawar- Baran constituency, defeating the Indian National Congress candidate Pramod Jain Bhaya by a margin of around 3 lakh votes. This was his third consecutive win.
  • During his fourth term as the MP from Jhalawar- Baran constituency, Dushyant Singh helped establish railways in the area. He also worked towards establishing the Kolana Airport in Jhalawar.

  • In 2023, when the BJP was to pick a candidate for the Chief Minister post, Dushyant Singh was accused of forcibly keeping 5 MLAs at a resort on the outskirts of Jaipur. The allegations were made by the father of MLA Lalit Meena. However, Dushyant Singh later said that the MLAs decided to stay there on their own will and it was a move to malign his image.
  • According to him, his experience in the hospitality sector helps him to manage and interact with people of different backgrounds and cultures.
