• Devyani Rana hails from Jammu & Kashmir, India.

• She was raised in a politically active family background.

• Devyani’s father, Devender Singh Rana, was a prominent political leader who had represented Nagrota Assembly in Jammu and also had a successful business profile in the region. Her paternal uncle, Jitendra Singh Rana, has been serving as the 18th Minister of Science and Technology and Minister of Earth Sciences of India.

• Devyani Rana earned her degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), with majors in Economics and a minor in Film, Television, and Digital Media.

• During her time at UCLA, Devyani Rana actively participated in student leadership, residential life, and campus governance. She has worked in multiple roles, including Media Specialist, Resident Assistant, and Chief of Staff in the Undergraduate Students Association Council (USAC) Office of the President, where she helped manage communication platforms and organized the first-ever UCLA USAC.

• She also developed large-scale social media strategies for UCLA Housing, supporting a community of more than 11,000 undergraduate residents.

• As a Resident Assistant, she coordinated safety responses, planned community-building programs, and advocated for mental health awareness through initiatives like “Passport to Mental Health.”

• Additionally, she held positions such as Co-Director of Campus Engagement, Internal Vice President of the On-Campus Housing Council, and Student Supervisor in the university’s technical support department.

• In 2016, Rana cofounded a marketing firm named 3 AM Talkies in Greater Los Angeles, which managed scripting, sourcing materials, and securing sponsorships for web series and web shorts.

• In 2018, Devyani joined Take One Television & Technologies Pvt Ltd, which is a leading news and media organization based in Jammu. Since 2018, she has been serving as chief executive officer of the firm.

• Under her leadership, the firm expanded its digital presence through platforms like Take One Digital Network and Take One Filmy.

• In October 2024, after the death of her father, Rana actively started participating in politics.

  

• In January 2025, she was appointed as vice-president of the BJP’s Yuva Morcha in Jammu.

• After becoming vice-president, she increased her participation in the party events, conducting meetings and rallies in Nagrota.

• In October 2025, Rana filed her nomination for the Nagrota bypoll election, the seat left vacant after the death of her father. She was the youngest among 12 candidates.

• During her campaign, Devyani focused on modern, inclusive development of Nagrota. She pledged to continue her father’s initiatives while upgrading local infrastructure, promising a balance of professional governance and community-driven growth.

• After 11 rounds of counting, Devyani secured 42,350 votes, finishing significantly ahead of her competitors. Her victory margin of 24,647 votes highlighted the BJP’s dominance in the region.

• After her win, in an interview, she expressed her gratitude and said,

“Nagrota blessed Rana sahib, and today they have blessed me too.”

She added,

“The BJP contests elections with the intention of winning and that the results in both Nagrota and Bihar reflect the party’s strong position.”

• Apart from politics, Devyani Rana is also managing her father’s media and automobile businesses.
