  • After completing his graduation, he made up his mind to become a journalist. He was later given a Chevening scholarship for a year to study in the United Kingdom.
  • He first started working as a journalist in 1993 with the newspaper Sanjha Lokswami.
  • He later served as a news correspondent in various newspapers and covered many important news including the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from Kashmir Valley in the early 1990s.
  • He later co-founded Aaj Tak in 1995, India’s first private channel broadcast on DD Metro.
  • Deepak joined DD News as a consulting editor in 2003 at the age of 31 years.
