  • David joined Harry Shapiro’s Cricket Institute at a young age to get specialized training in cricket as his hometown lacked basic cricket facilities.
  • David wanted to become a spinner during his early days but became a pacer as his physical strength grew with time.
  • David made his debut in domestic cricket for the Easterns in the 2005–06 SAA Provincial Cup;  he scored 526 runs and took 26 wickets in nine matches.
  • David was the highest wicket-taker in the 2009 edition of the Hong Kong Cricket Sixes while playing for South Africa.
