  • When Darshan Singh Sahsi was young, he worked as a farmer with his father and brothers in their fields in Punjab, India.
  • After completing his formal education, Darshan Singh Sahsi worked as a brick kiln owner in village Rajgarh, located in tehsil Doraha, district Ludhiana, in Punjab.

  • Darshan Singh Sahsi also worked in many small jobs like fishing, plumbing, and mechanical repair. He also fixed air conditioners and tractors. Later, he developed an interest in recycling clothes.
  • He then bought stakes in a struggling textile recycling unit, Canam International, in Panipat, Haryana, and transformed it into a global company.

  • Darshan Singh Sahsi was the first person to receive a licence for textile recycling in the Kandla Special Economic Zone (KASEZ) in Gujarat.

  • On 28 October 2025, he was shot and killed outside his home in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada, when he was about to leave for his work. Reportedly, the attack was planned and targeted.

  • After the attack, Goldy Dhillon reportedly shared a post on Facebook and claimed that he was behind the murder. He alleged that Darshan Singh Sahsi was involved in a large drug trade and had refused to give money to the gang.

  • On 29 October 2025, his family stated that he had not received any threat calls. One of his sons said in the media,

    My father or anyone from our family never received any threat, extortion, or ransom call from any gangster, etc. No one, absolutely no one, benefits from killing my father.”

  • The police investigators said in the media that the unknown attackers shot Darshan Singh Sahsi near his truck parked in his driveway on Townline Road. He died on the spot after being hit by several bullets.
