• Dane Paterson liked playing rugby and cricket during childhood, but later chose cricket as his professional sport.

• In 2016, he was awarded the 18th Altiorum for being selected as a Proteas (South African) cricketer.

• In 2017, Bloem City Blazers acquired him for South Africa’s inaugural T20 Global League but the league was later cancelled.

• In 2018, he was the highest wicket-taker for Paarl Rocks in the Mzansi Super League T20 tournament with 10 wickets in 11 matches.

  

• In March 2021, he moved to England, signed a contract with Nottinghamshire, and took 51 wickets in his debut county season.
