Some Lesser Known Facts About Coi Leray

• Coi Leray was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and raised in Hackensack, New Jersey.

• Inspired by her father, a renowned rapper and songwriter, she began singing at the age of 14.

• Coi released her first song, titled Coi Leray—”Bow Down”, with her brother Taj, and “Rock Back on YouTube.  However, both Leray and her brother stopped rapping.

• Coi Leray was the only girl in a family of six children.

• At the age of 16, Coi dropped out of high school and started working as a salesgirl in an e-commerce business.

• In 2012, her parents got separated, however, they decided to co-parent their children.

• In an interview, Coi revealed that she also owned an apartment at the age of 18.

• In 2018, Coi left her salesgirl job and released her debut single titled “G.A.N” through SoundCloud.

• In 2019, she signed a record deal with 1801 Records and Republic Records and released her second mixtape, EC2. In the same year, she appeared as a featured artist on the song “Everything BoZ” by Trippie Redd (American rapper and singer).

• In 2019, she also started dating Trippie Redd. Although they both dated for only a few months.

• In 2020, Coi released her debut extended play (a musical recording that contains more tracks than a single but fewer than an album) titled Now or Never. That was the biggest hit of the year 2020.

• In 2021, Leray’s single song “No More Parties” became her first song to appear on the Billboard Hot 100, ranked at number 26. This song was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in May 2021.

• In the same year, her other single titled  Big Purr (Prrdd) (2021) also appeared on the Billboard Hot 100 and ranked at number 66.

• In April 2021, she made her television debut, performing “No More Parties” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

• She was also included in the XXL Freshman Class list of 2021 (hip-hop magazine). Although her participation was widely mocked across social media and by critics.

• In September 2021, she released her single titled Twinnem. This song went viral on TikTok. The remix of this song featuring renowned American rapper and singer DaBaby, released in November 2021.

• She also appeared as the face of Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS “Cosy Collection” campaign.

• In March 2022, Coi Leray, in collaboration with Nicki Minaj (American rapper and singer), released a song titled Blick Blick. This song featured on the Billboard Hot 100, ranked number 37.

• In April 2022, she released her debut studio album titled Trendsetter.

• Her song titled Players (2022) became her first solo song to chart on the Billboard Hot 100, as well as ranked at number 9 in the top 10 hits of the month. Later, many remix version of this song was released.

• Leray’s collaborative single with David Guetta (French DJ and record producer) and Anne-Marie ( English singer and songwriter), “Baby Don’t Hurt Me,” was released in April 2023. The song peaked at number 48 on the Billboard Hot 100 and reached number 13 on the UK Singles Chart.

• In June 2023, Leary released her second studio album titled Coi. This album featured guest appearances from artists like David Guetta, Saucy Santana (American rapper), Giggs (British rapper and songwriter) and the Late James Brown ( American singer, songwriter, dancer, musician, and record producer).

• Coi and Trippie Redd rekindled their relationship in August 2024. In January 2025, Coi and Redd announced that they were expecting their first child. However, after three weeks, Leray revealed that Trippie Redd had cheated on her.

  

• In an interview, Coi Leray revealed that she considered Lady Gaga as her inspiration.

• In an interview, Coi revealed that if she were not a singer, she would be in the culinary industry, because she loves cooking. In 2021, Coi Leray released her cooking show titled Cooking with Coi Leray.
