• Bora Varun Chakravarthiis an Indian student who achieved the first rank in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test NEET-UG 2023. He is the second student from the OBC-NCL category to secure the top rank after Tankishka, who topped the NEET (UG) exams in 2022.

• He appeared for the NEET-UG entrance exam on 7th May 2023, which was conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The results were declared on 13th June 2023, and he secured the first position in NEET-UG 2023 by scoring a perfect 720 out of 720 marks. He achieved a percentile of 99.999901, and he shared the top rank with Prabanjan J. from Tamil Nadu, who also scored 720 marks in the exams.
  

  

  According to a top official from National Testing Agency (NTA), when two candidates have equal marks, their ranks are decided using a tie-breaker rule. This means that the candidate with higher marks in biology is given a higher rank compared to others. If the biology marks are also the same, the rule is then applied to chemistry and then to physics. If the scores remain the same, the older candidate gets the higher rank.

• After clearing the examinations, Varun, in an interview, said that he would pursue MBBS at All India Institute Of Medical Science (AIIMS) in New Delhi. Talking about it, he said,
  

  Our common village is Totada in the Srikakulam district. Both of my father and mother are teachers. I am happy to be a topper at the national level. Studied MBBS at Delhi AIIMS.”

• In 2023, he secured the second rank in the agriculture stream in Engineering Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET); he secured 151 marks in the exams.
