Some Lesser Known Facts About Bhakhtyar Irani

• Bhakhtyar Irani is an Indian actor, dancer, and entrepreneur, who primarily appears in Hindi daily soaps and reality shows. In 2006, he became a household face after appearing in the Indian dance reality show Nach Baliye Season 2, along with his wife, Tannaz Irani on Star One.

  

• Bhakhtyar, who developed an interest in dancing at a young age, started learning dance while studying in the eighth standard. Initially, he worked as a background dancer at various events such as award shows, dance reality shows, etc. Additionally, Bhakhtyar assisted the team of popular choreographer Farah Khan.

  

• In an interview, on being asked about how he got inclined towards dancing and decided to pursue his career as a dancer, Bhakhtyar said,
  

  I started dancing in grade eight. My brother used to choreograph Alisha Chinai’s shows and I remember doing the fast-forward-rewind action on tape for him during rehearsals! The entire exercise helped me realise that this is what I wanted to do. I then performed at the South Filmfare awards where Prabhu Deva spotted me and complimented me. In 1996, Farah Khan selected me to perform at the Miss World contest and soon I was part of movies like KKHH, Dil Se etc.”

• Bhakhtyar worked as a background dancer in the song “Koi Mil Gaya” from the Bollywood film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998).

• After working as a background dancer for a few years, Bhakhtyar switched his career from a dancer to a flight steward at Air Sahara and Carnival Cruise Line.

• In 2000, Bhakhtyar made a small appearance in the film Kahin Pyaar Na Ho Jaaye, starring Salman Khan and Rani Mukerji.

• In 2005, Bhakhtyar met Tannaz for the first time on the sets of the singing reality show Celebrity Fame Gurukul. Despite being seven years younger than Tannaz, Bhakhtyar gradually developed romantic feelings for her. Citing the age difference, Bhakhtyar’s parents were against their son’s marriage to Tannaz. However, Bhakhtyar’s siblings, Delnaaz and Paurus convinced their parents to the marriage, and eventually, the wedding was solemnized in 2007.

  

• Bhakhtyar was nominated for the Best Actor in a Comic Role Award at the Indian Telly Awards 2005 for his performance in his debut television show Batliwala House No. 43 on Sony TV.

• Bhakhtyar and Tannaz secured the third position in their debut Indian dance reality show Nach Baliye Season 2 on Star One.

• In 2008, Bhakhtyar played the role of Dr Dayal in the film Karz. The same year, he acted in Sab TV’s television show Lo Ho Gayi Pooja Iss Ghar Ki and played the role of Shiv Raj Khosla.

• In 2009, Bhakhtyar acted in the film Love Kaa Taddka in which he played the role of Vicky. The same year, he participated in the dance reality show Zara Nachke Dikha on Star One.

• In October 2009, Bhakhtyar, along with his wife, Tannaz Irani, took part in the Indian reality television show Bigg Boss Season 3 on Colors TV; the show featured Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan as the host.

  

• In 2011, Bhakhtyar participated in the Indian reality show Maa Exchange on Sony TV. The show was conceptualized from the British reality television programme “Wife Swap,” where wives were swapped, but to suit Indian culture, the Indian version of the show exchanged mothers.

• In 2013, Bhakhtyar took part in the Indian reality television series Welcome – Baazi Mehmaan Nawazi Ki on Life OK. The same year, he participated in the dance reality show Nach Baliye – Shriman Vs Shrimati on StarPlus.

• Bhakhtyar, along with his wife Tannaz, launched a dance academy, TEE and BEE Dance Institute in Dubai in 2013.

  

• In 2014, Bhakhtyar gained recognition for his performance as Ronnie D’Souza in the television show Badi Dooooor Se Aaye Hain on Sony SAB.

  

• Being an animal lover, Bhakhtyar has two pet dogs, Eminem Irani and Cardeebee Irani, and he often shares pictures of his pet dogs on social media.

  

• In 2016, as per some media sources, it was speculated that Bhakhtyar and Tannaz’s marriage was in trouble and there were rumours of separation. Claiming the rumours groundless, Bhakhtyar, in an interview, said,
  

  Whoever spread the rumours has no other things to do in life. We are very much together and happy. Very soon, Tanaaz and I will complete 11 years of marriage. I have kids and people should think before spreading such baseless rumours.”

• In 2016, while shooting for a particular sequence of the television show ‘Badi Dooooor Se Aaye Hai,’ Bhakhtyar’s fellow actor had to pass comment on his weight and had to address him as fat. Knowing that the dialogues were scripted, Bhakhtyar got offended as he could not take any comment on his weight. Consequently, he went on a diet plan for two months and shed 20 kgs of his body weight and came down to 70 kg from 90 kg. In an interview, on being asked about the reason behind shedding his body weight, Bhakhtyar said,
  

  The uncle who had to mouth dialogues in a scene, had to comment on my big waist and huge frame of body. I asked Aatish to change the lines because I was not obese. He asked me to take it lightly but I could not, so I went on a diet plan for two months. From 90 kilos I came to around 70 kilos in a span of two months. I did this just to prove that I am not obese and no one can call me fat even if it is a part of the script.”

• In 2017, Bhakhtyar, along with his wife Tannaz Irani, appeared in the music video Ankhon Mein Surma, which was choreographed by the Indian choreographer duo Bosco-Ceaser. The following year, Bhakhtyar appeared as Peter in the popular television show Khichdi on StarPlus.

• In 2021, Bhakhtyar played the role of Jamie Paul in the show Wagle Ki Duniya – Nayi Peedhi Naye Kissey on Sony SAB.

  

• Bhakhtyar has appeared in a few commercials for brands like Kwality Biscuits, Roll On, Perfect Care Shampoo, etc.

• In 2022, Bhakhtyar appeared in the film Rocket Gang.

• In March 2023, We4U India, an online platform, which provides home maintenance services, appointed Bhakhtyar as their brand ambassador.

• In 2023, Bhakhtyar acted in the television show Tere Ishq Mein Ghayal on Colors TV in which he played the role of Vyom Sharma.
