Some Lesser Known Facts About Beeda Masthan Rao

After completing his formal education, Beda Mastan Rao worked as a financial manager for a renowned hotel group in Chennai. He then started a business in the aqua industry.

In 2001, Beeda Masthan Rao was appointed as a Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) member of Bogole Mandal in the Nellore district. He served in the position till 2006.

In 2004, he contested the elections for the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly from the Allur constituency.

From 2009 to 2014, Beeda Masthan Rao served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly for the Kavali constituency in Andhra Pradesh. He was on the Legislative Committee for BC Welfare. He was the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Labour, Factories, Employment and Training, Tourism, and Information Technology.

In 2014, he contested the general elections on the ticket of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) but lost to a Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) candidate.

In 2014, he was appointed as an advisory member of the Capital Region Development Authority in Andhra Pradesh. He served in the position till 2019.

In 2019, Beeda Masthan Rao contested the general elections on the ticket of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) for the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly in the Nellore constituency but lost to a YSRCP candidate.

He joined the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) in December 2019.

In 2022, he was elected as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha. He was appointed to the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Besides politics and business, Beda Mastan Rao is known for his social service and spiritual activities.

He is the chairman of BMR Group, a shrimp farming and export firm in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

In June 2024, he came into the limelight when his daughter, Madhuri, ran her BMW car over a man named Surya lying on a footpath in Chennai’s Besant Nagar. Surya, a 24-year-old painter, died from his injuries, and Madhuri was tracked down using her phone number and later released on bail. A case was filed for causing death by negligence, and the car was found to belong to Rao’s BMR Group.
