  • Aryan Dutt is a Dutch cricketer of Indian origin who has represented the Netherlands in several tournaments. He made headlines with his performances in the 2023 ODI World Cup.
  • A few months after his birth, he, along with his family moved to Amsterdam where he later grew up and used to play football (soccer) during the initial years of his childhood.

  • One day, he saw Sachin Tendulkar (often referred to as The God of Cricket) playing in a match, got interested in cricket, and started playing it. When he saw Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s iconic World Cup winning six against Sri Lanka during the final of the 2011 ODI World Cup, he made up his mind to become a cricketer; he was eight years old at that time.

  • Aryan’s father later met the Ranji and the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricketer, Amit Uniyal, in the Netherlands and decided to send Aryan to train at Amit’s Gurusagar Cricket Academy in Chandigarh, India. Aryan was thirteen years old at that time and came to Chandigarh for six months every year from 2013 to 2019.

  • While Aryan started playing as a fast bowler, he later transformed into a spin bowler due to a sudden increase in his height as he started having fitness issues while bowling fast.
  • Aryan’s father revealed in an interview that his family moved to the Netherlands from Hoshiarpur, Punjab, India during the 1980s.
  • During his teenage years, he used to train under his father near his house when Tim de Leede, former Netherlands cricketer and father of Bas de Leede, was impressed with his talent and later trained him at his club, Voorburg Cricket Club Academy. Aryan later played for Voorburg Cricket Club in the Topklasse (Netherlands’ domestic List A/one-day cricket tournament).

  • In the 2021 ICC Under-19 World Cup Europe Qualifier tournament, he played for Netherlands Under-19. In May 2021, he represented Netherlands A against Ireland Wolves.

  • During his debut ODI match, he made 8 runs and claimed 1 wicket for 10 runs. During the 3-match 2022 ODI series against West Indies, he dismissed Nicholas Pooran below the individual score of 10 runs in all matches.

  • In the 2023 ODI World Cup, he gained attention with his good bowling during the powerplays. He hit 3 sixes during his unbeaten knock of 23 runs off 9 balls during the match against South Africa. He dismissed 3 players for 44 runs during the fixture against Sri Lanka.

  • During his childhood, Aryan was once practising on a synthetic football ground and trying to learn straight drive shots with his father,  when he got hit just above his eye by a ball after which he started bleeding.
