• Aparna Vastarey grew up in a middle-class family in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

  

• She was very young when she became interested in literature, culture, and music.

• Aparna started performing in plays after she made her acting debut with the film ‘Masanada Hoovu’ in 1985.

• She appeared in some other films like ‘Nammoora Raja’ (1988), ‘Inspector Vikram’ (1989), and ‘Doctor Krishna’ (1989).

  

• In 1990, Aparna started her career as a television presenter with a Kannada language show on DD Chandana. She worked in other productions of the channel until 2000.

  

• In 1993, she joined All India Radio as a radio jockey. In 1998, she set a record by hosting shows for eight continuous hours during Deepawali celebrations.

• In 2000, Aparna became the first presenter of AIR FM Rainbow.

• In 2011, she provided the voice for boarding and deboarding announcements on the Bangalore Metro (now Bengaluru Metro aka Namma Metro) and became a familiar voice for commuters.

• Aparna appeared as a contestant in the reality show Bigg Boss Kannada season 1 in 2013; the show aired on ETV Kannada (now Colors Kannada).

  

• In 2015, she appeared as ‘Varalakshmi’ (Varu) in a sketch comedy show titled ‘Majaa Talkies,’ which aired on ETV Kannada.

  

• She appeared in some other television series including Colors Kannada’s ‘Ivalu Sujatha’ (2019-2020) and ‘Nannarasi Radhe’ (2021).

  

• Aparna later took a break of over 20 years from work. She made a comeback with the 2024 film ‘Grey Games’ in which she played the role of a mother.

  

• On 11 June 2024, Aparna passed away at her residence in Banashankari, Bengaluru, after battling lung cancer for two years.

• She loved greenery and kept many plants at home.

• She enjoyed travelling and often shared her travelling experiences on social media.
