  • Anush Agarwalla is an Indian equestrian who has participated in various national and international horse riding competitions. He holds several records for India, one being the first Indian to win an individual medal at the Asian Games.
  • When he was just 3 years old, he got interested in horse riding after visiting the Tollygunge Club with his parents. At the age of 8, his mom signed him up for horse riding lessons, and he began competing in local horse riding competitions. When he turned 11, he started travelling to New Delhi regularly to get training in horse riding.

  • By the time he was 16, he moved to New Delhi to train more often at OREA stables under his coach Kapil Modi; however, when he was 17, he relocated to Germany, where he received training from the Olympian Hubertus Schmidt.

  • Anush Agarwalla began his training in the dressage discipline of equestrian sport, which involves horses moving rhythmically to music in an arena; however, he faced challenges on his journey. He didn’t qualify for the 2018 Asian Games or the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. In an interview, he shared that the period between October 2019 and December 2020 was tough as he couldn’t qualify for many tournaments.

  • His breakthrough came in 2022 when he qualified for the World Championships held in Herning, Denmark. He participated in the Grand Prix Freestyle event in Zakrzow, Poland, as part of the World Cup Central European League. Anush also represented his club, RV Altenautal, in many tournaments.

  • In 2023, he competed in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, where he achieved significant success by winning multiple medals and setting records for India.
