On his first attempt, he had cleared the UPSC preliminary and mains exam, but failed to clear the interview, after which he joined ‘Google India’ as a software engineer in Hyderabad, and side-by-side continued to prepare for the UPSC exam.

• In his fifth attempt, he topped the UPSC exam of 2017. 

• He took Anthropology as his optional subject.

• He didn’t take any coaching to prepare for the UPSC exam. Instead, he did the majority of his preparation via YouTube and Google.
