Anish Dayal Singh is a 1988-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Manipur cadre. He has led several paramilitary forces, including the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). He was appointed as the Director General (DG) of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in November 2023.
He hails from a Hindu family in Uttar Pradesh.
After completing his formal education, Singh took the UPSC civil services exam and passed it. Thereafter, he joined the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVNPA) in Hyderabad, Telangana. There, he trained to become a police officer.
Anish Dayal Singh finished his training at SVPNPA on 21 August 1989 and was assigned to the Manipur Cadre.

Anish joined the Manipur Police when militancy was rampant in North East India.
Anish became the Director General of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) when Indo-Sino relations were at an all-time low and the Line of Actual Control (the border between India and China) was tense. The Government of India’s official statement read,
The undersigned is directed to convey approval of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet for appointment of Shri Anish Dayal Singh, IPS (MA:88), presently working as Special Director, Intelligence Bureau (IB), to the post of Director General, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).”

In June 2023, Anish, as DG ITBP, went to Nepal to meet the officers serving in the Nepalese Armed Forces to foster bilateral ties.

Anish Dayal Singh was given the additional charge of leading the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in November 2023 as DG S. L. Thaosen was retired.
