• Anasuya Sengupta wanted to be a journalist initially.

• Anasuya has performed in various plays such as ‘Video.’ She has also appeared in some short films like ‘Cat People’ (2012) in which she played the role of ‘Maya.’

  

• In 2013, she moved from Kolkata to Mumbai, where she started working as a production designer. She has contributed to films like ‘Saat Uchakkey’ (2016) (Hindi), ‘Noblemen’ (2018) (English), and ‘Good Morning Sunshine’ (2023) (Hindi).

  

• She has also worked as a production designer for some Hindi-language web series like Netflix’s ‘Selection Day’ (2016), ‘Ray’ (2021), and Voot’s ‘The Gone Game’ (2022).

  

• In 2021, Anasuya moved from Mumbai to Goa, where she met Yashdeep Sharma, an Indian Navy Officer. They spent a week exploring Goa and soon fell in love.

  

• In 2024, Anasuya played the role of ‘Renuka’ in the Hindi-language film ‘The Shameless,’ which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. She got the chance to be part of the film after Bulgarian filmmaker Konstantin Bojanov texted her on Facebook in June 2020 and asked her to audition for the role.

  

• Anasuya’s performance in ‘The Shameless’ earned her the Best Actress Award in the Un Certain Regard segment at the 77th Cannes Film Festival in May 2024. She became the first Indian to win this award at the event.
