• Alan Bersten’s parents wanted him and his siblings to get into dancing and his parents opened a dance studio for them. Alan was just 7 years old when he started dancing.

• He participated in many dancing competitions during his childhood and he even won Youth Championship and Under 21 National Titles.

• In 2013, Alan Bersten took part in the 10th season of the American dance competition titled ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ which was telecast on the FOX Television Network.

• In 2015, Alan started working as a group member in the 20th season of the American dance competition TV series titled ‘Dancing with the Stars’ which was the American version of the British series ‘Strictly Come Dancing.’

• In 2016, during the 22nd season of ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ Alan danced with the boxer Paige VanZant as VanZant’s regular partner Mark Ballas suffered a back injury during rehearsals.

  

• Similarly in 2017, during the 24th season, Alan danced with the actress Heather Morris for four weeks while Morris’s regular partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy was recovering from an injury.

• In the same year, he took part in the 25th season of the TV series ‘Dancing with the Stars’ as a professional dancer where he was partnered with 1980s singer-songwriter and Broadway actress Debbie Gibson. The dance couple took the 12th place in the competition.

  

• In 2018, Alan was on tour with the American TV series titled ‘Dancing with the Stars’ when he began to have severe stomach pain. He visited an urgent care centre where he was told that his blood had a high level of calcium and he did not quite take it seriously.

• After his mother asked him to do another blood test after a week, Alan Bersten found out that he had symptoms of a tumour on one of his parathyroid glands called hyperparathyroidism.

• He underwent surgery the next day to remove his left parathyroid and got back to work after a week of recovery.

  

• In the same year, Alan Bersten became a mentor in the first season of the American children’s dance competition television series titled ‘Dancing with the Stars: Juniors’ which was a spin-off of the ‘Dancing with the Stars’ series.

• He formed Team Alan in ‘Dancing with the Stars: Juniors’ with junior professional dancer JT Church and 10-year-old professional skateboarder Sky Brown. The Team Alan won the Junior Mirrorball trophy in the finals.

  

• In 2019, he took part in the twenty-eight season of the American reality competition series ‘Dancing with the Stars’ in which he was partnered with the American TV personality Hannah Brown. The dance partners reached the finals and won the final trophy of the season.
