• Ajay Alok is an Indian politician who is famous for his role as the spokesperson of JDU and BJP. He is often seen in political debates on Hindi and English News Channels.

• He spent his childhood in Patna, Bihar and was interested in the field of medicine since childhood.

• After graduating from Maharashtra in 1997, he worked as a doctor in Delhi and later in other countries before returning to Patna, Bihar in 1999. He later became a government doctor after clearing the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) examination.

  

• In 2000, he founded the Indira Gopal Institute of Medical Services (IGIMS), and in 2013, he opened the Udayan Hospital in Patna, Bihar.

  

• Although he was active in student politics, he had no plans to enter electoral politics until 2003; however, when he and his father were given a death threat by a local gangster Bindu Singh who demanded Rs 25 lakh ransom from them, he approached the local gangster turned politician Suraj Bhan Singh who suggested him to join politics to fight the politics crime syndicate, and he decided to join politics.

• He tried to contest elections from his hometown Chainpur in 2003 from a major political party; however, he was denied the ticket on the basis of caste.

• In the 2005 Bihar Assembly Elections, he came fourth by getting 9683 votes from the Chainpur Assembly seat when he contested on the ticket of Ram Vilas Paswan‘s party, Lok Janshakti Party (LJP). ^[5]ECI – 2005 Bihar Elections ^[6]MyNeta

• In the 2010 Bihar Assembly Elections, he came second by getting 32930 votes from the Chainpur Assembly seat when he contested on the ticket of Mayawati‘s party, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). ^[7]ECI – 2010 Bihar Elections ^[8]MyNeta

• In March 2012, he joined Nitish Kumar‘s party, Janata Dal-United (JDU) as its spokesperson and General Secretary and became one of its most popular leaders all over India. He often spoke about different political issues in TV debates with clarity.

  

• He lodged an FIR for theft at his house on 19 February 2013 and stated that jewellery worth Rs 50 lakhs, Rs 12 lakhs cash, six passports, and six bank locker keys were stolen. Later, Police arrested his domestic helper Mani Kumari and her boyfriend Mohammed Amjad Khan for the theft and recovered the stolen valuables. ^[9]The Times of India

• His father also contested the Lok Sabha elections in 2014 against Shatrughan Sinha from the Patna Sahib constituency; however, he lost the elections.

  

• When JDU broke its alliance with BJP and made a coalition with RJD, he criticised Nitish Kumar and other JDU leaders. As a result, his political rivals with the party grew, and he resigned from the post of spokesperson on 13 June 2019 by sending a resignation letter to the then-party president.

  

• He remained active in politics as an independent political analyst and criticised the policies of the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government. When water entered his house during the 2019 Patna floods, he launched a scathing attack on the Nitish government on Twitter.
  

  

  

• His wife and two children tested positive for Covid-19 in July 2020 following which he quarantined himself as well. After a few days, they tested negative for Covid-19. ^[10]Hindustan

  

• JDU President Umesh Singh Kushwaha terminated his membership in JDU on 14 June 2022 for anti-party activities.

  

• Ajay Alok joined BJP on 28 April 2023 in a function in New Delhi where Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia were also present. He said upon joining that he felt like he was joining his family. He said,
  

  By joining the BJP, I feel like I am joining my family. A family led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
