Some Lesser Known Facts About Adhik Ravichandran

• Adhik Ravichandran is an Indian film director, writer, and actor who primarily works in Tamil cinema. He gained popularity as the director of the popular Tamil movie Mark Antony (2023).

• His 2015 film Trisha Illana Nayantara became a box-office hit and was later dubbed in Telugu.

• The action comedy film Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan, also referred to as AAA, was directed and written by him in 2017. The movie got mostly negative reviews from critics and did poorly at the box office. His third Tamil-language film, Bagheera, which was released on 3 March 2023, was written and directed by him in 2023. The film was a commercial failure and was mainly condemned by critics. Another Tamil-language science fiction action comedy film “Mark Antony,” which was directed by Adhik Ravichandran, hit theatres on 14 September 2023. The movie collected over Rs. 100 crores in revenue and quickly became a box office hit.

• Adhik Ravichandran made his acting debut in 2019 with the Tamil-language psychological mystery film K-13 in which he played the role of Vijay. He played the role of Vishwa in the Tamil-language legal drama film Nerkonda Paarvai, which was released in August 2019. It was a remake of the film Pink, the popular Bollywood film starring Amitabh Bachchan. In 2022, he made an appearance in the Tamil psychological action thriller film Cobra.

• Adhik’s mother was against him pursuing a career in film because his father worked as an assistant director for almost 20 years and despite that, his father was never able to make his directorial debut. To appease his mother, Adhik decided to major in engineering rather than visual communication, which was his first choice of subject.

• He worked as an assistant director under Malayalam actors and directors Major A. K. Raveendran and Mohanlal Viswanathan.

  

• Adhik Ravichandran publicly criticised Kollywood actor Silambarasan in 2017 for his arrogance on the set of Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan. He blamed Silambarasan for the movie’s failure and claimed that Silambarasan wanted to split the film into two parts and halt the shooting. In an interview, while talking about Silambarasan’s behaviour, he said,
  

  When I realised things were getting out of hand, I wanted to stop the shooting. I told the producer that doing part 1 and part 2 for the movie will be a problem. But the producer spoke to him and said that things will be sorted out. Even my reputation has taken a beating.” ^[1]The News Minute

• He wrote the dialogue for the Tamil dubbed version of the action comedy Hindi film Dabangg 3 in 2019.

• In 2023, Adhik Ravichandran sang the song “I Love You Di,” written by GV Prakash, for the Tamil film Mark Antony.
