Some Lesser Known Facts About James Vasanthan

• He belongs to a Christian Tamil family in Tamil Nadu.

• He is an avid lover of dogs.

  

• His mentor Dr Uma Maheshwari (former principal of Government College of Music, Thiruvaiyaru) advised him to join the music course at Madras University and also paid his course fees.

• After completing his courses in music, he worked as a restaurant musician at The Carlton a hotel, in Kodaikanal.

• After leaving his job at the hotel, he worked as a music teacher at the St. Peter’s International School, Kodaikanal for six years.

• He left his job as a music teacher after 6 years and shifted to Madras (now Chennai) to fulfil his dream to become a music composer.

• He has composed around 400 Christian audio albums.

• In 1998, James became the owner and creative head of the television and film production company known as Big Deal. The company was later renamed as Miracle Entertainment.

• He worked as a TV anchor on Sun TV and Star Vijay before starting his career as a music composer in the Tamil film industry in 2008.

  

• Some of the Tamil films in which he composed music are Naanayam (2010), Yaathumagi (2010), Marudhavelu (2011), Puthagam (2013), and Ariyavan (2023).

  

• He was the lyricist of the song “Aasa Aasa” from the film Naanayam (2010).

  

• He owns a music academy known as the James Vasanthan Academy of Music in Chennai for music enthusiasts.
