  • Atul Kumar Anjan was a senior CPI leader and national secretary of the Communist Party of India.
  • Atul Kumar Anjan grew up in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
  • He stepped into the student politics in 1977.
  • In 1979, at the age of 24, he became the first person to be elected as the President of the All India Students Federation of Lucknow University.
  • He gained popularity among the students for raising their concerns and was elected as the President of Lucknow University’s Student Union three more times; he led the organisation for 7 years (from 1979 to 1986).
  • An influential speaker, Atul Kumar Anjan was fluent in six languages.
  • Anjan contested the Lok Sabha elections from the Ghosi constituency several times but faced defeat in every election. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Atul managed to collect only 18 thousand votes.
