• Lockie Ferguson started playing cricket with his elder brother in his backyard and trained at Parnell Cricket Club in Auckland.

  

• He changed his name from Lauchlan to Lockie during his early teenage years as he liked the unusual spelling. ^[4]Stuff

  

• During his school days, he won the National Schools Fast Bowling Competition in 2008. He also won the title of the quickest secondary school bowler in New Zealand.
