- Simarjeet loved playing cricket since childhood. He was 9 when he joined Madan Lal Cricket Academy in Delhi.
- In 2016, he represented India in the U-19 Asia Cup.
- Simarjeet made his List A debut for Delhi in the 2018-19 Vijay Hazare Trophy on 20 September 2018.
- His First-class debut for Delhi was in the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy against Hyderabad on 2 November 2018, where he took 37 wickets in 11 matches.
- On 11 November 2019, he made his T20 debut for Delhi in 2019-20 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
- He served as a net bowler for the IPL team Delhi Capitals.
- In July 2021, he served as a net bowler to the Indian team on the tour to Sri Lanka.
- In September 2021, he was added to the Mumbai Indians squad as an injury replacement for Arjun Tendulkar. He got his maiden IPL wicket while playing against Delhi Capitals.
- In the 2022 IPL mega auction he got his maiden IPL contract when Chennai Super Kings bought him at a base price of Rs 20 Lakhs.
