• Devendra Singh Dhillon was born in a traditional Punjabi family in Kaithal.

• He was fond of firearms since his teenage days.

  

• After completing his bachelor’s degree, he took admission in Khlasa College in Patiala, where he stopped attending classes in March 2025 and did not even appear in all examinations in April 2025.

• On 11 May 2025, Kuldeep Singh, a protection agent in Guhla Police Station in Kaithal, got information from his sources that Devendra uploaded photos with guns on Facebook with his friend Malak, a local Congress leader.

  

• He lodged an FIR number 108 in Guhla PS against Devendra on 11 May 2025 under the acts 25 (1-AAA), 25 (1-B)(a), and 29(B) of the Arms Act 1959.

  

• During the initial investigation, Kuldeep Singh found that he did not have any licensed firearms and wanted to create an atmosphere of fear during the Operation Sindoor.

  

• While checking his mobile phone, police officers found contacts and messages exchanged with Pakistani people.

• He revealed that he visited Pakistan in November 2024 as a member of the congregation to Kartarpur, Lahore, and Nankana Sahib.

  

• During his visit, he met people from the Pakistani intelligence agency, who honeytrapped (blackmailing through a woman) him. The Pakistani agents introduced him to a girl with whom he spent a week.

• He later kept in touch with her and other Pakistani agents and shared sensitive information about the Indian military, including photos of Patiala Cantt.

• He had a room near Khalsa College in Patiala where he lived for 5 days every week and spent the weekend in his village.

  

• College Principal Dharmendra Singh claimed he behaved like a normal student, and they did not sense that he was doing anti-Indian activities.

• The Pakistani agents offered him monetary support in exchange for spying for them. They also gave him the task of adding more people.

• Before his arrest, he deleted all data from his mobile phone, after which the police officers started a forensic investigation to recover the deleted information.

  

• They also checked his 3 bank accounts and claimed he received money from his Pakistan-based handlers. Allegedly, he was in contact with more than 5 Pakistani agents.

• His arrest happened at the time when travel blogger Jyoti Malhotra was also arrested on similar charges of spying.

• He liked drinking alcoholic beverages such as beer and whiskey during parties or celebrations.
