- In 1980, he was appointed as the president of the Gangadhar Meher College students’ union and remained in the position for a year.
- He has also served as the National Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party and represented Odisha in the central committee of the BJP which was chaired by the National President Amit Shah.
