Some Lesser Known Facts About Anil Thadani

• Anil Thadani grew up in Mumbai in a joint family at Blue Heaven Society in Mumbai.

• In 1993, Anil founded AA Films, one of India’s largest single-owner non-studio film distribution companies in Mumbai. His company mainly distributes Hindi films and Hindi-dubbed films in North India.

• The first film that he distributed under his banner was Yeh Dillagi (1994).

• Anil’s company is associated with many prominent film producers like Karan Johar, Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, Mukesh Bhatt and Bhushan Kumar.

  

• Under his banner, he has distributed many popular Bollywood films like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Stumped (2003), Agneepath (2012), Aashiqui 2 (2013), Ek Villain (2014), Dil Dhadakne Do (2015), Raazi (2018), Gully Boy (2019), and Animal (2023).

  

• In 2016, Anil’s company entered into a joint venture with Cineestan Film Company, which was named Cineestan AA Distributors. Anil Thadani was appointed as the Director and CEO of the company.

• The first film that was distributed by Anil’s joint venture was Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra‘s Mirzya (2016).

• In 2017, Anil’s company AA Films and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions distributed the Hindi version of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, the first Indian film that grossed over 1000 crore worldwide.

• As per some reports, Anil Thadani’s firm spent around Rs. 400 crores to secure the theatrical rights of Pushpa: The Rule (2024), Game Changer (2024), Kalki 2898 AD (2024), and Devara Part 1 (2024).

• Anil Thadani is a director at Bhagwanti Tex-Overseas Private Limited and Bhagwanti Exports Private Limited (as of 2024).

  

• Anil’s family has been involved in the film distribution business for a long time. In an interview, while sharing why he chose to become a film distributor, Anil said,
  

  My family was into the distribution business for a long time. I learnt the ropes of the business by serving the family business. A point came where I wanted to do something on my own.”

• Anil met Raveena for the first time during the shooting of the film Stumped (2003). At that time, Anil was going through a rough phase in his marriage. Soon, he divorced his first wife Natasha.

• During the shooting of the film Anil became friends with Raveena and after a while, they began dating. After dating for around six months, the two entered into a wedlock on 22 February 2024.

  

• Once, during a new year’s party hosted by film director Ritesh Sidhwani, Anil’s wife Raveena Tandon entered into an ugly fight with his ex-wife Natasha Sippy. Apparently, Raveena was unhappy with Natasha trying to get close to Anil at the party and ended up throwing a glass of grape juice at Natasha.
