• Vance Boelter was born and raised in the small town of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota.

• Vance was associated with conservative Christian circles and often expressed strong political and religious views.

• After completing graduation, in 1999, Vance started working as a supervisor at Nestle, Gerber, USA.

• From 2004 to 2021, he worked in various food and retail industries in Minnesota, USA, holding different roles in companies like Operations Leader in Johnsonville Sausage, Del Monte Production System Manager in Del Monte Foods, General Manger at Green Core, and General Manager at 7 Eleven.

• In 2016, Governor Mark Dayton appointed him to Minnesota’s Workforce Development Council.

• In 2019, Governor Tim Walz reappointed him to the Workforce Development Board, where he served alongside public officials.

• Vance Boelter, along with his wife, co-founded a Minnesota-based private security firm where they use replica police vehicles and claim to offer armed patrols, though there are no records of active clients.

• In an interview, Vance Boelter mentioned that his family also worked part-time for funeral service companies, where they transported bodies and serviced crime scenes.

• Vance also presented himself as trained in conflict-zone and private security work in areas like Africa and the Middle East.

• He also travelled to Israel and parts of Africa, where he preached in churches and participated in missionary work. In 2023, he delivered a speech in which he expressed strong opposition to LGBTQ+ individuals and abortion.

• On June 14, Boelter allegedly planned to assassinate several lawmakers in Minnesota. He created a “hit list” containing the names of 45 to 70 individuals, primarily targeting Democratic politicians and leaders whom he held responsible for supporting abortion rights and liberal values.

• Vance is accused of killing lawmaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark. The shooting took place at their home, located just outside Minneapolis, Minnesota. Additionally, Boelter is alleged to have shot Democratic Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, in their home; however, both of them survived the assassination attempt.

• To hide his identity, Vance used a silicone mask and a fake police uniform.

• Just hours after Boelter evaded authorities, he sent a series of text messages to his roommate, David Carlson, and another individual. In his message, he wrote,

“I love you guys. I’ve made some choices, and you guys don’t know anything about this, but I’m going to be gone for a while. I may be dead shortly,” “So I just want to let you know that I love you guys both, and wish it hadn’t gone this way. I don’t want to say anything more and implicate you in any way, because you guys don’t know anything about this. But I love you guys, and I’m sorry for all the trouble this has caused.”

• His wife was stopped by the police while travelling with some of their five children. Inside the car, officers discovered weapons, cash, and passports. She was questioned but was not arrested immediately.

• David Carlson had known Boelter since the fourth grade and rented a room at Carlson’s house while working in the funeral industry because his family home was allegedly farther away from his job.

• David also mentioned that Vance was facing financial and mental challenges. Additionally, Carlson alleged that Boelter had given him a four-month advance on his rent payments before the alleged shootings.

• On June 15, 2025, authorities identified Boelter as the main suspect and added him to the FBI’s Most Wanted list. Law enforcement officials also initiated a nationwide manhunt.

  

• On the night of June 15, Governor Tim Walz and law enforcement officials arrested him in the woods near his home in Green Isle, Minnesota.

• After his arrest, Boelter was subsequently charged with two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of second-degree attempted murder.
