  • Fawad Chaudhry is a politician, lawyer, and journalist from Pakistan. He belongs to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party. He worked as the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Federal Minister for Science and Technology. He has been a member of the National Assembly and has actively participated in the party’s core committee. He has also served as a Special Assistant in the federal cabinet.
  • After completing his college studies, he established a law firm called First Law Company in 1998.
  • He later pursued a career as a political analyst and anchor on the Urdu News channel Neo News and hosted the program ‘Khabar Kay Pechay.’ In 2015, he conducted an interview with Syed Mustafa Kamal, the former Mayor of Karachi.

  • He contested as an independent candidate for the Provincial Assembly of Punjab from Constituency PP-25 (Jhelum-II) in the 2002 Pakistani general election and received 161 votes. Chaudhry Tasneem Nasir of PML-Q won with 38,626 votes in that year.

  • He joined the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in March 2012. A month later, in April 2012, he became a member of the federal cabinet led by Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani. He was appointed as a special assistant to the Prime Minister and held the status of a minister of state.

  • His tenure in the federal cabinet continued until June 2012; however, during that time, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani was disqualified, resulting in the dissolution of the cabinet.
  • In July 2012, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf became the Prime Minister, and Fawad Chaudhry was reinstated in the federal cabinet. He was given the position of Special Assistant for the Prime Minister on Political Affairs, and he fulfilled this role until March 2013.

  • In the same 2013 Pakistani general election, he contested as an independent candidate for the Provincial Assembly of Punjab from Constituency PP-24 (Jhelum-I) and received only 82 votes. The winning candidate in that constituency was Raja Muhammad Awais Khan.

  • In June 2016, he joined Imran Khan‘s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party. In the by-election held in August 2016, he contested as a candidate from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party for the National Assembly seat in Constituency NA-63 (Jhelum-II) and received 74,819 votes; however, he failed to win. The winning candidate in that election was Nawabzada Raja Matloob Mehdi.

  • He was appointed as the spokesperson of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party in November 2016. In March 2018, he was given the additional responsibility of Secretary Information of PTI, following the resignation of Shafqat Mahmood.

  • He was chosen as a candidate from Constituency NA-67 (Jhelum-II) for the 2018 Pakistani general election. His nomination papers were initially rejected by an election tribunal due to an allegation that he had not paid the agriculture tax; however, he appealed the decision in the Lahore High Court, and the court granted him permission to contest the election.

  • He emerged as the winner from Constituency NA-67 (Jhelum-II) in the 2018 Pakistani general election. He received a total of 93,102 votes, securing victory over his opponent Nawabzada Raja Matloob Mehdi, who represented the Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N) party.
  • In the same election, Fawad Chaudhry was elected to the Provincial Assembly of Punjab as a candidate from Constituency PP-27 (Jhelum-III) representing the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party and received 67,003 votes, defeating his opponent Nasir Mehmood from the Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N) party. After his successful election to both the National and Provincial Assemblies, Chaudhry expressed his interest in becoming the Chief Minister of Punjab during a TV show.

  • He was appointed as the Minister for Information and Broadcasting in the federal cabinet of Prime Minister Imran Khan on 18 August 2018 and officially assumed the role of Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting on 20 August 2018.
