• Pratap Singh Khachariyawas is an Indian politician. He holds prominence as a Rajput leader in Rajasthan.

• During his college days, he was actively engaged in student politics. He became the president of the student union at the University of Rajasthan in 1992 after defeating Satish Poonia, who later became Rajasthan BJP head, in the elections; Pratap served in this position till 1993.

  

• He later joined the youth wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), and eventually rose to the position of its President. He then continued to pursue a career in politics.

  

• Pratap Singh Khachariyawas asserted in August 2019 that he was a descendant of Kush, who was Lord Rama’s younger son. He further claimed that his family belonged to the Kachhawa clan. Khachariyawas expressed his willingness to present the necessary documents supporting his claim to the Supreme Court if required; however, he also emphasized that the more pressing issue at that time was the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, and his lineage claim was secondary to that larger matter. ^[8]The Times of India

  Together, they organized several protests against the Vasundhara Raje government in Rajasthan. Khachariyawas played a crucial role in rallying the support of Rajputs in the state and transferring their votes to the Congress party after the encounter of gangster Anandpal Singh in 2017; however, in 2020, when Sachin Pilot revolted against Ashok Gehlot, Pratap Singh Khachariyawas chose to stand by Gehlot and defended him. He stated that he would follow the decisions made by the party leadership regarding the leadership.

  

  When reminded by one of Pilot’s associates that Pilot had played a role in helping Khachariyawas become the Jaipur Congress Chief and a cabinet minister, Khachariyawas asserted that he had been involved in politics long before Pilot even considered entering the political arena and said,

  The history of Pratap Singh Khachariyawas is that of sangharsh, swabhiman and andolan (struggle, self-respect and agitation). When Sachin Pilot ji used to wear knickers, I had already become the president of the Rajasthan University in 1992.” ^[9]The Indian Express

In May 2023, during an incident in Jaisalmer where families of migrant Pakistani Hindus were displaced, Khachariyawas publicly criticized the officials involved, stating that they had violated the law of Rajasthan regarding displacing people. • In July 2023, Pratap Singh Khachariyawas gained significant attention when videos surfaced on social media showing his nephew, Harshdeep Singh, involved in vandalizing the County Inn hotel located in the Vaishali Nagar area of Jaipur. The incident reportedly took place around 10:30 pm on 18 July 2023. The hotel owner, Abhimanyu Singh, alleged that despite making repeated requests, the police did not register any First Information Report (FIR) in connection with the incident. ^[11]Navbharat Times
