• Dr Shobha Vijender was born into a family with a background in social work.

• It was her father who instilled a sense of social responsibility in her at a young age.

• Shobha’s mother always encouraged her to be independent and self-reliant.

• In 1993, Dr. Shobha founded a non-governmental organization named Sampurna with an aim to empower the womanhood. The organisation follows the principle of complete development and provides full support to women and children.

• As the President and founder of Sampurna, Dr. Shobha Vijender supports victims of domestic violence, promotes education, and advocates for women’s rights.

  

• Through Sampurna, Shobha has worked closely with various communities to promote self-sufficiency, awareness, and health education.

• She has authored various books on empowering women and children. In 2023, she authored the book Broken Brides: Domestic Violence in India.

• In 2012. she contested and won the Municipal Corporation Elections in Delhi on a ticket of the Bharatiya Janata Party, becoming a councillor from Rohini Central.

  

• Dr. Shobha has been invited as a guest speaker at various social events to share her thoughts on topics like Rehabilitation & Support Systems for Victims and Prevention of Violence Against Women and Children.

  

• In 2019, there were allegations that Shobha’s NGO Sampurna received disproportionately large amounts of funding from the MCD, while her husband Vijender Gupta served as the councillor of MCD. It was also claimed that the NGO had used MCD-allotted space for commercial purposes.

• In June 2019, she was robbed of her belongings by some unidentified persons near Mandi House in Lutyen’s Delhi.
