  • Marques Keith Brownlee is an American YouTube sensation who makes tech-based videos. He is popularly known by his stage name MKBHD, Marques Keith Brownlee High Definition.
  • Marques started his career by uploading technology-based videos on his YouTube channel titled MKBHD in January 2009 while he was still in the 8th standard. His initial videos were mostly software tutorials recorded through screencasting. According to him, his first 100 videos attracted only 78 subscribers.
  • He has come a long way since then. Other than the regular viewers who love his tech reviews, his content has been featured on many technology websites, like Engadget.
  • As his follower base started to grow, tech companies started offering him their products to review. Soon, he shifted to focus from software to reviewing mobile phones, laptops, headphones, video games, etc.
  • Brownlee’s way of assessing gadgets is unique and innovative. One of the most viral videos in his initial days was the review of LG G Flex in November 2013. He performed a series of scratch tests to check the self-healing ability of the device as claimed by the company.

  • His reputation as a credible tech reviewer earned him the opportunity to interview Motorola CEO Dennis Woodside American blogger Evan Blass in 2013 and 2014 respectively.
  • Vic Gundotra, former Senior Vice President of Google called Brownlee “the best technology reviewer on the planet right” in 2013.
  • In July 2014, Marques reviewed iPhone 6 and performed a scratch test on the rumoured 4.7-inch sapphire display. The video went viral and was featured on sites like The Verge, Forbes, HuffPost, CNET, and Time Magazine. NBC News also featured the video in one of its news segments. As of 2020, the video has gained more than 9 million views.
  • In December 2013, he started a YouTube video series titles Talking Tech. In this segment, Marques interviewed some of the major tech tycoons like Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, and Elon Musk

  • Apart from his Youtube channel, Marques also runs a tech-based podcast titled ‘Waveform: The MKBHD Podcast’ with his friend Andrew Manganelli, who is also a producer for the MKBHD YouTube channel.   • Marques is also a professional frisbee player. He started by playing for the New Jersey Hammerheads (now discontinued) in the American Ultimate Disk League (AUDL). Later, he shifted to Philadelphia Phoenix in 2017.
