Some Lesser Known Facts About Anjali Bhardwaj

• Anjali Bhardwaj is an Indian social activist and RTI activist who works towards strengthening the implementation of the Right to information act. 

• Prior to fully dedicating herself to activism, Anjali Bhardwaj worked as a consultant for the World Bank.

• Back in 1999, Anjali Bharadwaj became actively involved in the movement for the right to information. Currently, she holds a significant role as a co-convenor of the National Campaign for People’s Right to Information (NCPRI).

• Anjali is dedicated to promoting and advocating for important laws such as the Whistle Blowers Protection Act of 2011, the Grievance Redress Bill of 2011, and The Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act of 2013. She actively works towards their implementation and ensures that these laws provide protection and address grievances effectively.

  

• Anjali is a key figure among the founders of Satark Nagrik Sangathan (SNS) or Society for Citizens Vigilance Initiatives (SCVI). SNS is a collective of citizens who actively promote transparency and accountability in how the government operates. In addition to her involvement with SNS, Anjali is also engaged with the RTI Assessment & Advocacy Group (RAAG), an organization formed in 2008. Together with other members, Anjali continuously evaluates the implementation of the RTI Act, ensuring its effective application and impact.

• Furthermore, Anjali holds a prominent position within the Right to Food campaign, actively advocating for the expansion of the public distribution system, the right to employment, land reform, and social security. Her efforts are focused on ensuring that all citizens in India have access to these fundamental rights.

• Anjali has penned several articles for various esteemed newspapers and magazines. She has written about a range of topics, including her perspectives on Lokpal amendments published in the Indian Express, insights on the Prevention of Corruption Act featured in The Hindu, her analysis of the Lokpal Bill in the Economic Times, an evaluation of Information Commissions’ performance in The Deccan Herald, and discussions on proposed amendments to the RTI Act in Outlook magazine.

• On 14 December 2022, Anjali Bharadwaj, along with fellow RTI activists Dipa Sinha and Sachin Jain, attended an event as part of the Right To Food campaign, making their voices heard and contributing to the cause.

  

• On 29 October 2022, Anjali Bharadwaj participated in the Karnataka Convention on Electoral Democracy. This convention was held in Bangalore at the Indian Social Institute and was a collaborative effort organized by Constitutional Conduct Group, Jan Sarokar, People-First, National Alliance for People’s Movements, and Election Watch (Karnataka).
