Some Lesser Known Facts About Upendra Kushwaha

Upendra Kushwaha is an Indian politician and a member of the Bihar Legislative Council. He is also a former Member of Parliament. He is a former member of the Rajya Sabha and the leader of his own party Rashtriya Lok Samata Party.

When Upendra was studying in college, he lived with Karpoori Thakur, the two-time Bihar Chief Minister, who guided him about politics. Karpoori Thakur was dear friends with Upendra’s father (deceased).

He also learnt political ropes from Indian activist Jayaprakash Narayan.

After he graduated from the B. R. Ambedkar Bihar University, he was appointed at Samata College as a lecturer in the politics department.

In 1985, when Upendra joined the youth wing of the Lok Dal, he was a junior to Nitish Kumar, co-founder of the Janata Dal (United). It was on Nitish Kumar‘s suggestion that Upendra Singh added Kushwaha to his name believing that it would help boost his political standing.
