Some Lesser Known Facts About Aarya Babbar

• Aarya Babbar is an Indian actor. He mainly works in Punjabi and Hindi films.

• After his birth, he was named Sajjad Babbar which was taken from his maternal grandfather’s name Sajjad Zaheer. However, his debut film director Khalid Mohammed asked his parents to change his name as Khalid believed that with his name audience would get confused whether Aarya was a Hindu, Muslim, or Sikh. His name was then changed to Aarya. ^[6]The Times of India

  

• He once shared that since his teenage, he wanted to become an actor. He said,
  

  As I grew up, I realised that I truly wanted to be an actor and started working hard towards my goal. I did theatre with my mother’s group Ekjut. I had to do it all — right from being a backstage boy to the long hours of workouts to reduce my weight before I bagged my first film.”

• During his school days, he performed in various stage plays. Later, he performed in his mother’s Children Theatre Group. He also performed in the children’s play Aao Picnic Chalen.

• He did training under a journalist to become more confident in front of the camera.

• Before making his debut in acting, he did acting training under Kishore Namit Kapoor (actor) and action training under Bhiku Verma and Jabbar Khan. He did his training in dance under the renowned Indian choreographer Saroj Khan.

• Aarya has appeared in various Hindi films like ‘Guru’ (2007), ‘Ready’ (2011), ‘Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola’ (2013), ‘Bangistan’ (2015), and ‘Hai Tujhe Salaam India’ (2022).

  

• He has acted in various Punjabi films like ‘Yaar Annmulle’ (2011), ‘Naughty Jatts’ (2013), ‘Heer and Hero’ (2013), and ‘Gandhi Phir Aa Gaya’ (2020).

  

• He was one of the contestants in the reality TV show ‘Bigg Boss 8’ in 2014.

  

• He has appeared in a few Hindi TV shows like ‘Darr Sabko Lagta Hai’ (2015), aired on &TV.

• In 2020, he was roped into the Hindi film ‘Shashank,’ a biopic of Sushant Singh Rajput, to portray Sushant’s role in the film. However, after the objections of Sushant’s family, the film was shelved. ^[7]The Times of India

• He has acted in various Hindi web series like ‘Fuh se Fantasy’ (2019; JioCinema), ‘Runaway Lugaai’ (2021; MX Player), ‘Pratiksha’ (2021; Ullu), and ‘Duniya Gayi Bhaad Me’ (2023; Mask TV).

  

• In 2022, while he was on a plane of Go First Airlines, he argued with the pilot of the flight. The pilot said that he did not like the remarks of Aarya on them. To which Aarya said that he did not mock them and he was joking with one of his friends on the plane. ^[8]Hindustan Times
