• He grew up in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, India.

  

• After completing his formal education, Dr Mohammad Umar worked as a senior resident at Government Medical College (GMC), Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir, India.

• Later, he was transferred to Al-Falah Medical College in Faridabad, Haryana, India.

• On 10 November 2025, Dr Mohammad Umar made headlines when it was reported that he was behind the bomb blast of the Hyundai i20 near Red Fort in New Delhi, India. The explosion killed at least 13 people and injured more than 20 people.

• During the investigation, agencies found that he played an important part in planning the terrorist attack and transporting the explosives to Delhi, where the blast happened.​

• Later, authorities took DNA samples from his family in Pulwama, Kashmir, and matched them with the human remains found in the car. This confirmed that Dr Umar was driving the Hyundai i20 when it exploded.

• Dr Mohammad Umar bought a Hyundai i20 car on 29 October 2025 from Sonu, a car dealer in Faridabad, Haryana, and obtained a Pollution Under Control certificate the same day.​

• The car had been sold many times before the blast. The last person to buy it was Tariq from Pulwama. According to some media reports, fake papers were used to buy and sell the car.

• CCTV footage showed the car with the number HR 26CE7674 parked next to the Pollution Under Control booth, located near the Royal Car Zone, close to Sonu’s office.

  

• Dr Mohammad Umar then allegedly took the car to Al-Falah Medical College in Faridabad and parked it next to a Swift Dzire belonging to Dr Muzammil Shakeel.

• The car was parked there from 29 October to 10 November 2025.

• On the morning of 10 November 2025, Dr Mohammad Umar panicked after his close associates, Dr Muzammil Shakeel and Dr Adeel Ahmad Rather, were arrested with a large quantity of explosives.

• He then drove the car towards Delhi. At 8.04 a.m., CCTV footage showed that the car entered Delhi from the Badarpur toll booth, crossing over from Faridabad.

• Then, the car was seen at a petrol pump near Okhla Industrial Area at 8.20 a.m., where it stopped for a short time.

• During the day, the car was seen passing through Darya Ganj, Kashmiri Gate, and Sunehri Masjid.

• The car entered a parking area adjacent to the Red Fort, near the Sunehri Masjid in Chandni Chowk at 3.19 pm. The car remained in the parking lot until around 6:22 pm, and Dr Mohammad Umar stayed inside the car the entire time.

  

• After that, the car was seen moving through Chandni Chowk, taking a U-turn near the Red Fort, and stopping on Subhash Marg near Gate Number 1, the Red Fort Metro Station, where it exploded at around 6:52 pm, while the car was stopped in traffic.

  

• After the blast, investigations revealed that Dr Mohammad Umar, Dr Muzammil Ahmad Ganai, and Dr Shaheen Shahid were part of a terror logistics group of nine to ten members, including five to six doctors.

• They used their medical jobs to get materials, manufacture explosives, and manage plans for Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM).

• Dr Mohammad Umar stopped working at the university on 30 October 2025.

• He went into hiding on 9 November 2025 after police found 2,900 kg of ammonium nitrate during raids. He hid near the Dhauj village and switched off his five phones.

• Dr Mohammad Umar was close to a doctor named Adil, and both were part of a radical doctors’ group active on Telegram. This group was connected to the terrorist organisation JeM.

• On 11 November 2025, Muzamil, his sister-in-law, said in a media interview that Dr Mohammad Umar was quiet since childhood, had few friends, and focused mostly on his studies and work. She said,

  He called on Friday saying he is busy with examinations and will return home after three days. He was a reserved kind of person right from childhood.”

• Muzamil said that Dr Mohammad Umar last visited home in September 2025 and was engaged.

• She added that the family worked hard so Dr Mohammad Umar could become independent and take care of them.

  

• Reportedly, Dr Mohammad Umar was a close associate of Adeel Ahmad Rather, a former senior resident at Government Medical College, Anantnag, who was arrested a week before the blast.​ They played an active role in planning the Delhi Red Fort attack.

• He liked playing cricket in his free time.
