• After completing her formal education, Aparna Thakur began working as a journalist at the Time of India magazine and worked there from 20 October 1990 to 30 December 1995.

• She then worked as a freelance photographer at Filmfare ‘G’ showtime film magazine from 21 September 1991 to 2000.

• From 22 February 1996 to 1998, Aparna Thakur worked as a public relations officer for various television artists, singers, and theatre artists.

• After leaving Filmfare ‘G’ magazine, she founded Amara Models, a foreign model agency, and worked there from 22 October 2014 to 2016.

  

• From 22 October 2017 to 2019, Aparna Thakur worked at Auor Models, a foreign model agency.

• In April 2017, she opened a restaurant named Chaat N Chinese with her husband Rajesh Soni in Mumbai.

• Aparna Thakur then joined Global Movie Magazine as a freelance journalist.

• In 2024, she came into the limelight when she claimed that BJP’s Gorakhpur MP Ravi Kishan was the father of her daughter, Shinnova.
