  • Swastik Chikara hails from Khedi Asra village in the Jhajjar district of Haryana but has lived in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh since childhood as his father was a sub-inspector in Delhi Police.

  • He wanted to play cricket since childhood. At the age of four, his father gifted him a cricket bat.
  • Being from a sports-loving family. his father also wanted him to become a sportsperson, not necessarily a cricketer.
  • His father also played the shot put. Chikara’s aunt, Savita competed in the 100 metres and Sheel ran in 200 meter sprint events.
  • His mother took him to cricket academies in his starting days. But he was not happy with the training there.
  • His father later made a turf wicket on their 2.60 acre field where he started learning batting. His father also tilted the wicket by 2 feet at one end to teach him how to face inswing and outswing deliveries.

  • His father later became a cricket coach, completing a coaching certification from NIS. He later opened the SS Nalanda Cricket Hostel in Ghaziabad.
  • Swastik Chikara later played age-group cricket in Under-14 and Under-16 tournaments. He scored 22 double-centuries and 7 triple-centuries in the age group tournaments.

  • He later played for Haryana Cricket Academy under the coach Narinder Gulia.
  • His father claimed in 2019 that he had scored more than 100 centuries in open cricket tournaments.
  • He attended the Under-16 training camps of Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) in 2018 and 2019.
  • During a 40-over match in the 19th Shaheed Ramprasad Bismil Smriti Open Cricket Tournament at the Dewan Cricket Ground in December 2019, he scored 585 runs in 167 balls with 52 sixes and 55 fours for Mahi Cricket Club at the age of 16.
  • In 2023, he scored 439 runs in 7 matches to help Uttar Pradesh win the Under-23 State A Trophy for the first time.
  • On 25 November 2023, during his debut List-A match for Uttar Pradesh against Himachal Pradesh in the 2023-2024 Vijay Hazare Trophy in Chandigarh, he scored a century with 117 runs in 101 balls.
  • In the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, Delhi Capitals (DC) acquired him for his base price of Rs 20 lakhs, but he didn’t play any match for them.

  • In the second edition of the UPT20 Tournament in 2024, he was the highest runscorer with 499 runs in 12 matches at an average of 49.90 and a strike rate of 185.50.
  • He took his team Meerut Mavericks to win the tournaments. He also won the Orange Cap, the MVP award, and the Super Striker of the Season.

  • In the 2025 IPL mega auction, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) acquired him for his base price of Rs 30 lakhs.
  • There was a controversy as DC head coach Hemang Badani claimed he raised his paddle, but the auctioneer Mallika Sagar missed it and hit the gavel down.
  • She later admitted it, but he was sent to the RCB team as re-auction couldn’t be done according to the IPL rules after the gavel falls.

  • His father kept 4 buffaloes at home to help him get the proper nutrition as he doesn’t eat much outside food.
