• Anupam Sharma is an Indian origin Australian filmmaker who has been widely acknowledged by Australian and Indian media for establishing links between India and Australia Cinema since 1997.

• After completing his higher secondary education at St. Joseph School in Dehradun, Anupam moved to Sydney in 1986 to pursue higher studies.

  

• During his postgraduate studies, he wrote a thesis titled “Indian Cinema: Singing a Different Tune,” which explored the development and characteristics of songs and dances in Indian cinema. The University of New South Wales awarded him a distinction for this thesis.

• Before moving to filmmaking and direction, Anupam started his professional career as a Lecturer at the University of Western Sydney.

• In 1998, Anupam collaborated with Indian filmmaker and director late Feroz Khan and started his career in filmmaking and film direction.

• In 2000, Anupam founded Films and Casting TEMPLE Pty Ltd, an award-winning film production, casting and consulting production house based at Fox Studios, Sydney. This organisation has worked on more than 300 projects between Australia, India, Denmark, the USA, and China, including feature films, television serials, music videos, television commercials, and film festivals since 2000.

  

• In 2001, with the support of Ausfilm (Australian government-industry partnership), state film agencies and Australian companies such as Deluxe, Cutting Edge, and The Post Lounge, he started doing seminars in India to inform filmmakers and directors about how to use Australian locations and production services in their films.

• Anupam’s Films and Casting TEMPLE Pty Ltd helped with the Indian’s themed elements in the Hollywood films. Moulin Rouge (2001) was the first Hollywood project of his production house.

• Sharma was the Australian line producer of some popular films, such as Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage (2002), Heyy Babyy (2007), Love Story 2050 (2008), Crook (2010), UnIndian (2015), and many more.

• In 2003, he became the head of the Australia-India Film, Arts, Media, and Entertainment Council.

  

• Apart from acting in plays and TVC, Anupam has directed music videos and documentaries. He also worked as the senior creative consultant for the Goat Island Film Festival, the most expensive showcase of Indian cinema in Australia.

• In addition to directing films, he has also directed several government and private campaigns, such as the NSW Tourism Ad Campaign, the Intellectual Property Awareness Foundation campaigns, and an anti-piracy campaign.

• Apart from film direction and production, he also acted in some films, such as Get Rich Quick (2004), Shukriya: Till Death Do Us Apart (2004), Heyy Babyy (2007), and UnIndian (2015).
