Some Lesser Known Facts About Rowllin Borges

• While growing up, Rowllin’s interest in football developed due to his father, who used to take him to watch football matches at the Fatorda stadium.

• Rowllin started playing football at 13 and played his first professional football match for his school team.

• While growing up, Rowllin’s childhood hero was Climax Lawrence, a former Indian footballer from Goa. Rowllin wanted to become a player like him in the childhood.

• Rowlin remained unsold in the auctions for the Indian Super League in 2015, which were also the first auctions after the league started in 2014.

• Rowllin made his debut for the Indian national football team on 31 August 2015 against Nepal, which ended in a 0-0 draw. He came as a substitute for Eugeneson Lyngdoh.

  

• Rowllin’s debut goal for the national team came against Nepal on 27 December 2015 in a group-stage match of the 2015 SAFF Championship, which India won 4–1.

• Rowllin made his Indian Super League debut on 1 October 2016 for the club NorthEast United FC against Kerala Blasters FC. The score ended 1-0 in favour of NorthEast United FC.

  

• Rowllin’s former coach at NorthEast United FC, Eelco Schattorie, once compared him with the Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne and said,
  

  Rowllin Borges is a bit like Kevin De Bruyne. When I see the quality, I can compare them a little bit; to play box to box, have good passing abilities, can assist, and score goals”

• In April 2023, Rowllin suffered minor injuries in a car accident, which happened in Porvorim. He was travelling with his colleagues when their car collided with a truck that was parked outside the road. ^[1]The Times of India
