On Wednesday, 3 February 2021, he told his parents that he was going for the shooting of an acting project, but there was no shooting scheduled on that day. He went to his other home in Perambur, Chennai, where he committed suicide. Reportedly, he was suffering from depression.

Sreevathsav was an animal lover and owned a few pet cats including Inji and Sukku.
