• Maike Cruz grew up in a middle-class Catholic family in São Paulo, Brazil.

• He was raised singlehandedly by his mother.

• Maike was inclined towards sports from a very young age and always wanted to make a career in it.

• At the age of 11, Maike began training as a swimming athlete at the Olympic Training and Research Center and within a few years became a Brazilian medalist in the sport. In an interview, while talking about his passion for sports, he said,
  

  It’s what made me who I am today. Sports shaped me. All my discipline and determination come from swimming.”

• He has trained in swimming alongside César Cielo and Thiago Pereira.

• In 2025, he participated in the reality TV show Big Brother Brasil 25. In the show, he was paired with Gabriel Yoshimoto. Together, they were referred to as #TeamMaioshi.

  

• While entering the show Big Brother Brasil 25, Maike revealed that he has been single for the past three months. He also revealed that he was an intense type of person who falls in love easily and suffers for love. He said,
  

  I’m romantic, passionate. I like to see the people I’m with happy, regardless of whether it’s a relationship or not. I’m open to having a relationship in the house, if it happens.”
