Some Lesser Known Facts About L’Algérino

• L’Algérino is a renowned Algerian and French rapper and singer, known for his unique fusion of rap and singing. He began his music career at just 11 years old and was raised in Marseille’s Felix Pyat area. By the age of 25, he made history as the first Marseille artist to sign with the independent Parisian label Sinik Six-O-Nine.

• His journey in the music industry was influenced by his connection with JUL, a childhood friend, and his discovery by Akhenaton, a member of the IAM group, in 2001. Akhenaton brought him on board at 361 Recordz, where L’Algérino released his debut album “Les derniers seront les premiers” in June 2005.

• Before his solo success, he was part of groups like ‘B-Vice Junior’ and ’45 Niggaz’, and collaborated on independent albums with them. Early in his career, his work was produced by Hichem Gombra and Hafid Fédaouche of HF Production. He first gained recognition with his maxi single “T’sais c’est qui qui cause?” and later gained fame with his feature on Psy 4 de la Rime’s “Block Party”.

• In 2004, Akhenaton of IAM discovered him and signed him to 361 Records. His debut album, “Les derniers seront les premiers”, was launched in 2005 under Naïve Records.

• His 2007 album “Mentalité pirate” featured hits like “L’envie de vaincre”, “Fleur fanée”, and “Entre deux flammes”. This was followed by “Effet miroir” in March 2010, “C’est correct” in 2011, another album in 2014, and “Oriental Dream” in October 2015 with Black Pearl Music. His seventh album, “Banderas”, came out in October 2016. In May 2017, he released the single “Les menottes (Tching Tchang Tchong)”.

• His 2018 track “Va Bene” from the Taxi 5 soundtrack, released on YouTube on March 23, 2018, soared to number 2 on the French SNEP charts.

• L’Algérino’s music is distinguished by its blend of rap with Mediterranean and Algerian influences, incorporating elements of Raï music. His Algerian heritage shines through in the vibrant rhythms and melodies of his songs.

• The Quick Style, a Norwegian dance group, gained fame for their Instagram reel featuring the Bollywood song ‘Kala Chashma’, which they revived in 2023 with a new twist. Their collaboration with L’Algérino in a dance performance of this song gained a lot of interest from his fans.
