• Gehlot’s family has been living in Najafgarh for the last 9 generations.

•  Gahlot served as a Member of the Executive-Bar Association of the High Court of Delhi from 2005 to 2007.

• Gahlot has worked in the Supreme Court and High Court as a lawyer for more than a decade.

• Gahlot comes from a farming background and has fought several cases for farmer’s rights during his legal career.

• In the 2020 Delhi Legislative Assembly elections, Gahlot was re-elected from the Najafgarh constituency in south-west Delhi. He got 81,507 votes and defeated the Bharatiya Janata Party’s candidate Ajeet Singh Kharkhari with a margin of 6,231 votes.

• Kailash Gahlot and his wife were batchmates.

• Gahlot is the first minister to win two consecutive terms from the Najafgarh constituency in the Delhi Legislative Assembly elections.

• Under the leadership of Gahlot as the transport minister, Delhi became the first state to issue e-learning licenses and become completely faceless for transport-related services. Ambitious Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy 2020, pink pass-based free travel for women, and the Bus Marshall scheme were also launched under his tenure.

  

• After the arrest of Manish Sisodia in February 2023, Gahlot was given the responsibility of the finance and planning department.

  

• In November 2024, Kailash resigned as Transport Minister due to dissatisfaction with the corruption allegations against senior Aam Aadmi Party members, including Manish Sisodia and Arvind Kejriwal. He also expressed his discontent regarding Arvind’s expenditure of crores on his residence, known as the Sheesh Mahal, and ultimately decided to leave the party to join the BJP.
